Summer camp on swimming registers huge participation

The month-long summer coaching camp concluded at the Swimming Pool, Netaji Stadium Complex here on Friday. More than 250 students from different age-groups participated in the camp bearing witness to the passion for the sport and the coaching conducted every year under the guidance of Mr Selvam. The Director of Sports, Mr AK Trivedi was the chief guest on the occasion.
In his address, Mr Trivedi lauded the efforts of the coach, Mr Selvam towards promoting swimming in these islands. He urged parents to motivate their wards to learn swimming which instils confidence besides boosting physical strength. “It gives me immense pleasure to notice that so many parents here send their children to get trained in swimming. Mr Selvam has been living up to the expectations and efficiently managing the increasing enrolment at the Swimming Pool,” he said. Mr Trivedi also distributed certificates to the participants on the occasion.
Mr Birender Pradhan, Assistant Director (i/c) informed that swimming contests to promote the sport will resume after July 15. He also recorded his appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of students in the summer camp. Three trainees of the camp also shared their experience on the occasion.
