SW institutes awards for best Panchayat, Ward & Tribal Council

The Department of Social Welfare is implementing Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme (BBBP), a flagship scheme of Government of India, with the goal of empowerment the girl child, preventing gender-biased sex selective elimination, ensuring survival, protection, education and participation of the girl child in mainstream of society and economy. The success of this scheme depends upon the participation of the entire community right up to the village level. It has been decided to institute three awards for the three best Panchayats/ Wards/ Tribal Councils in each district, as a token of recognition for their outstanding commitment towards the cause of women & girls. These awards will be distributed on the occasion of National Girl Child Day i.e. on 24.01.2018. The applications/ nominations received up to this date would be screened by a high level screening committee and the awards would be given on the occasion of National Girl Child Day.
Similarly, it has been decided to honor three community champions in each district, who are rendering significant service in the field of women & child development such as promoting girl enrolment in schools, awareness on POCSO Act, domestic violence, dowry, child marriage and other social issues affecting girls. Interested Pradhans, Councillors of PBMC, Tribal Council members are requested to send their applications (duly filled in the attached format) in respect of the award instituted for them. Gram Panchayats, registered NGOs, SHGs, Mahila Mandals, Ward Council, Tribal Council and individuals may recommend and forward nominations of Community Champions and Successful Girls, along with the format filled up by Community Champions and Successful Girls, duly recommended by the Pradhan/Councillor/ Tribal Council members/NGO/SHG/Mahila Mondal.
