Swachha Sagar Abhiyaan by Coast Guard

The Indian Coast Guard, A & N region conducted a clean-up drive at Junglighat on Saturday under its “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan”. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards government’s visionary step of clean India campaign but also has taken steps towards “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan” through contributing towards beach clean-up in these pristine Islands. The event was also utilised to sensitise locals/ tourists of the importance of Clean India Campaign.
The event was conducted by Indian Coast Guard personnel. Approximately 200 mtrs of beach was cleaned and about 1000 kgs of garbage including discarded plastic items, ropes, nets and clothes were collected and handed over to PBMC for disposal. The event was witnessed and applauded by locals and they also extended helping hands towards cleaning the area. During the drive, banners and placards were displayed to sensitize the visitors against polluting the Islands. The event was a great success as the garbage laden area was converted into a clean beach.  The Coast Guard Region (A & N) is committed to realize the goals of “Swachha Bharat Abhiyan” and continue to contribute towards national dream, a release said.
