The Coast Guard, A&N Region undertook beach clean ship drives, interaction programmes and other activities to spread awareness amongst and motivate various sections of society to participate in these flagship programmes towards cleaner seas and marine environment. The Coast Guard ships and personnel have conducted similar activities at far flung remote islands in keeping with the resolve and directives of Inspector General KR Suresh, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N). The Coast Guard personnel continue to strive and spread the message of Swachhta and importance of marine conservation in these Islands.
The Coast Guard Air Enclave (CGAE) Port Blair organized a “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” general awareness drive on Saturday at the Marina Park Road. In the early hours of the morning, the Team CGAE conducted camps at multiple locations on Marine Drive to sensitize the early morning joggers and walkers. The Coast Guard personnel interacted with the local populace highlighting the demerits of marine pollution and importance of waste management. The people were apprised that “Swachh Bharat” is possible only when every person makes an effort and take responsibility of spreading awareness. Volunteer badges were distributed to 300 people who responded positively.
The event ended with the Coast Guard Team taking the Swachhta pledge to          re-dedicate our commitment and continue the cleanliness drive. Indian Coast Guard wishes all participants and our partners in the cleanliness drive a very Happy and Clean Environment.
