‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Pakhwada by ICG

The Indian Coast Guard is celebrating the “Swachhta Hi Sewa” Pakhwada between 01 Dec  to 15 Dec  throughout the Isles, spreading the GOI flagship programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. Under this “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign, Indian Coast Guard is conducting various special cleanship drives aiming to spread awareness and implementation across the Coast Guard establishments, Government schools and fishing community hamlets with a focus on role of women and children to take a lead role for community led swachhta initiatives within society. The possible areas towards “Swachhta Abhiyan” includes public beaches, cleaning of in and around areas of Coast Guard establishment/residential places and awareness campaign at various Govt schools, public parks and beaches frequently visited by people.
A special cleanup drive at Chidiya Tapu beach was conducted on 08 Dec wherein 200 participants including 50 local/tourists participated and 400 kgs of garbage was collected and handed over to PBMC for further disposal. A special tree plantation drive under Green initiative was also conducted at Coast Guard Residential Area on 09 Dec wherein 100 saplings of fruits bearing were planted in and around Coast Guard Residential Area.
Indian Coast Guard took up utmost efforts for mobilizing people participation to ensure that the mission truly becomes a citizen’s movement during “Swachhta Pakhwada”. In past also, Coast Guard had been focusing on cleaner beaches and surroundings of these pristine Isles including tree plantation drives.
