Swachhta Pakhwada by Coast Guard

Coast Guard Ships and establishments in Port Blair conducted various activities including cleanliness drive, poem writing, awareness campaign etc on 10 and 11  December  to commemorate “Swachhta Pakhwada” with an aim to instill the importance of cleaner and greener India in the minds of  people of Isles. Indian Coast Guard Ship Durgabai Deshmukh undertook the cleanship drive in and around CG jetty area, Port Blair. ICGS Bhikaji Cama carried out an awareness campaign towards Swacchta drive at remote Chowra Islands wherein approximately 40 local residents participated in the awareness drive and taught about waste disposal methods and ill effects of plastic/non degradable waste. ICGS Rajshree conducted a poem writing competition on “Swachh Bharat Swarnim Bharat” for CG personnel including civilian employees. On completion of event apposite prizes were awarded to the winners. Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (CGWWA) A&N Region also conducted a special cleanliness drive at pragati path, Panipat Road. The volunteers collected the garbage including discarded plastics and polythene trash which were  later disposed.
