Thematic course for Forest Guards on at FTI

One-week Thematic Course for frontline staff  (Forest Guards) of the Department of Environment and Forests got underway at Forest Training Institute (FTI), Wimberlygunj recently. Smt Jayshree Ardey Chauhan, Addl. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Forest Conservation) was the chief guest of the inaugural function.
Inaugurating the course, Smt. Jayshree Ardey Chauhan, IFS, Addl. PCCF (FC), the chief guest of the function asked the course participants to upgrade their knowledge and skill during the course. She reiterated that one cannot discharge his or her responsibilities and duties satisfactorily  unless and until they keep themselves updated in their spheres of activities.
The guest of honour, Mr S.K. Thomas, DFO, South Andaman appealed the course participants to gain enough knowledge so as to equip themselves for the conservation and management of the unique flora & fauna of the islands. The Director of the Institute, Mr Joju P. Alappatt, while addressing the participants, elaborated on the objectives of organizing such courses from time to time. The course, sponsored by the Directorate of Forest Education, Dehradun, Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Govt. of India is aimed at acquainting the field staff with the latest concepts and trends in forestry, wildlife, environment and allied subjects with special emphasis on the theme ‘Biodiversity and Soil and water conservation’. Mr Sukumar Das, Course Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Mr Rajendra Verma, Instructor, FTI proposed the vote of thanks.
