Three-day strike by BSNL employees

Responding to the strike call given by All Union and Association of BSNL (AUAB), that represents 1.72 lakhs employees of BSNL, the A & N Circle of BSNL Employees Association has announced going on a three-day strike from Monday. In a press release, the association said that the aim of holding the proposed strike was to demand for the fulfilment of assurances given by Minister of State for Communication on the several demands of the AUAB. The members expressed regret to customers for the inconvenience that could arise out of the proposed strike and appealed the public to support BSNL. AUAB also condemned the terror attack at Pulwama and paid tributes to the soldiers. AUAB called upon all the employees throughout the country to pay homage to the martyrs by holding condolence meetings outside the offices, by observing two minutes silence at 10 am.
Some of the major demands raised by AUAB include Allotment of 4G spectrum to BSNL, implementation of third pay revision with 15% fitment, payment of pension contribution by BSNL as per the Government rule, scrapping BSNLs outsourcing for the operation and maintenance of its mobile towers, implementation of assurance of the Minister for delinking pension revision from pay revision and revise pension of 2 lakhs BSNL retirees w.e.f. 01.01.2017 and settlement of the left out issues of the 2nd Pay Revision Committee. Staff across the BSNL offices in these islands will abstain from work in support of the strike. Certain services provided for the public at offices will remain affected on all three days.
