Tier-III training on water budgeting, management at JNRM today

In view of acute scarcity of water resources as a whole and drinking water in particular in our country, the Union Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has contemplated to start with several nationwide awareness campaign, workshops and training programmes on water conservation, efficient water use and artificial recharge to ground water. In this connection, a Tier-III Training Programme under Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities of MoWR, RD & GR, Govt. of India on “Water Budgeting and Management at Local Level” for Capacity building of Stake holders will be organised in the seminar hall of JNRM here on November 22. Mr Anindo Mazumdar, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and Mr Sanjeev Kirwar, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (APWD) will grace the programme as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Dr. N. Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM and Dr. Pearl Devdas, H.O.D., Geography will be present as the guest of honour and special guest. Mr Amlanjyoti Kar, Regional Director (i/c), Central Ground Water Board, Eastern Region Kolkata and a Member of Task Force (Water Supply), A&N Administration will coordinate the event.
Besides Shri Kar, the acclaimed expert of water resources management in A&N Islands, expert scientists of CGWB and Professors of JNRM and Puducherry University will be delivering lectures in the programme. The programme will be attended by officers and professors and senior students and research fellows from all stakeholder departments like APWD, MES, Zilla Parishad, Agriculture, PBMC, DBRAIT, CARI, JNRM, Pondichery University (Brookshabad) and PRIs from various Gram Panchayats in South Andaman.
