The local unit of Trinamool Congress Committee (TMC) slammed the Congress party leaders on Wednesday alleging that the party is not working for the cause of the islanders. Addressing a press conference, Smt Anita Mondal, TMC observer said that the Congress party strived for decades for the welfare of islanders under late Manoranjan Bhakta. “But the present leadership of the party has strayed from the mission as a result of which many leaders including late Bhakta resigned from the party and joined the Trinamool Congress.  TMC chief, Mamta Banerjee, is a mass leader who has been fighting for the poor and marginalized sections of the society, said Smt Mondal adding that the TMC will constitute a committee and announce the MP candidate for the 2019 general elections in the next two months.
Speaking on the occasion, the TMC state president of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr P Cheeku expressed confidence that the party will win the general elections for the Andaman and Nicobar Parliamentary constituency in 2019. TMC observer Mr Biswapati Biswas and convener, Mr Ayan Mondal were also present on the occasion.
