Potholes, stagnant water and poorly maintained passenger rest sheds - welcome to the city’s private bus depot, which sees hundreds of passengers every day. It takes several minutes for commuters to negotiate with massive craters starting from the entrance of the terminus and wade through stagnant water and filth to board the buses. To avoid facing the problems, commuters prefer to wait for the buses at the small eateries outside the Bus depot. Poor maintenance of the private bus Depot by the Municipal Council is drawing serious criticism for the civic body.
“Despite repeated requests, the Municipal Council has failed to ensure even basic amenities at the private bus stand. The condition of the stand and bus bays gets worse during rain seasons. Tattered roads, massive pot-holes and water stagnation have been a persistent problem at the bus stand. The Council is going a good job and its efforts towards providing better civic amenities to the urban population are visible. But the state of the private bus stand at Mohanpura is in sharp contrast to the civic body reputation. The Council should take immediate steps to initiate repair works at the private bus stand,” said a private Bus Conductor speaking to EOI.
