Training on duckling resource units held at N&M

A three-day training programme on “Establishment of duckling resource units at N&M Andaman” was organised by Animal Science Division, ICAR-CIARI in collaboration with KVK, Nimbudera at Nimbudera and Billiground recently under the project funded by NABARD here. Around 60 farmers participated in the training programme.
Dr. T.Sujatha, Principal Investigator of the project threw light on the importance of establishment of resource units for ducklings and introduction of mini incubator for the benefit of farmers of Nimbudera where there is much demand for ducklings and the supply is not sufficient at present. Dr. Shardul Lal, SMS, KVK, Nimbudera gave a glimpse on scientific management of Duck. Dr. Shailesh, KVK i/c, Nimbudera, N&M Andaman briefed about the importance of integrated duck farming. Technical folders on mini-incubator and low cost feed formulation with locally available materials were distributed. A total of 150 ducklings were distributed to establish parent duck stock. During three days training programme, trainees were imparted with knowledge on housing, feeding and health management. Exposure visit was arranged to Poultry Farm, Department of Animal Husbandry Basantipur to have an overall view on incubator operation. Participants were informed that a mini incubator is going to be established at KVK, Nimbudera.
At the valedictory function held on September  8, trainees expressed their happiness for the incubator that is planned to be installed. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Shardul Lal.
