Training on fish feed, health management in aquaculture by CIARI

A training programme on “Fish Feed & Health Management in Aquaculture” is being organized by ICAR-CIARI at its Garacharma campus in association with ICAR-KVK, here during 13-15 December, 2018. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI. In his address, he mentioned about the importance of feed in fish culture and highlighted about various agriculture technologies developed by this institute to double the farmer’s income and also advised the farmer participants to reap maximum benefit out of the training programme.
Dr. Nagesh Ram, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, Port Blair pointed out the market potential and linkages in aquaculture sector. Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Principal Scientist and In-charge, Social Science Section, ICAR-CIARI mentioned about the entrepreneurship opportunities in agriculture sector mainly fish-preneurs and also stressed upon the importance of Kisan Call Centre for the benefit of Island farmers. Earlier, Dr. K. Saravanan, Scientist welcomed the gathering and explained about the activities of training programme wherein the farmers will acquire hands-on training on fish feed preparation. The training programme is funded by NFDB, Hyderabad under the NSPAAD project. A total of 26 farmers including five female farmers from various villages viz. Diglipur, Nimbudera, Bimblitan, Badmaspahad, Port Mout, Manpur, Lal Pahad, Gopal Nagar and Sippighat are attending the training programme.
