Training programme on Human Rights

The Police Training School, Prothrapur, A&N Islands has organized a two-day course on “Human Rights” on recently for in-service police personnel from the rank of PC to SI and as well as trainees under the overall supervision of Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, Principal, PTS. The main objective of the course is to make them aware/update about the relevant rules/provisions and latest amendments to Human Rights issues under the overall supervision of Principal, PTS.
During the training programme, Mr T. Sebasteen Rtd. Dy SP, A&N Police, Inspr. Abita Bachan, SI T. Hemavathi SI D.K Seal and SI Abdul Manaf of  PTS, Prothrapur have delivered valuable lectures on different topics like  concept of human rights and policing as a positive factor in Protection of Human Rights, Necessity of Human Rights in democratic society, legal provisions for protection of Human Rights of complainants, suspects and accused persons, duties and obligations of constables, police code of conduct and proper behavior towards public in performance of duties, Human Rights including rights of arrestee and  law on handcuffing, importance of ethics of policing and guidelines for curbing the incidents of Human Rights violations by police etc.
Altogether, 12 police personnel from various police stations/units and 40 trainees of PTS Prothrapur had participated in the course.  The course was coordinated by SI D.K. Seal & SI Abdul Manaf PTS, Prothrapur under the supervision of Vice Principal, PTS.
