Tribals in Great, Little Nicobar benefit from GoI schemes

The Gram Swaraj Abhiyan Camp was conducted at all the tribal villages of Great and Little Nicobar Islands on the 29th of last month. The Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay, Mr Ranjeet Kumar Singh, and Chairman Tribal Council, Mr Barnabas Manju accompanied by the Medical Team and officials from Syndicate Bank visited Maccachua and Afra Bay, one of the remotest area of the Nicobar District. The Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay and his team interacted with the residents of Maccachua, Afra Bay, Piloulu, Pilobha, Pilopathia and Pilopanja villages andbriefed them about the seven schemes under “Gram SwarajAbhiyan- SabkaSath, SabkaGaon, SabkaVikas” for which the district administration, Nicobar is committed to achieve saturation before May 5, 2018.
The tribal villagers enthusiastically came forward and enrolled themselves under the schemes. Immunization of the left out children under mission Indradhanushwas also carried out at all these places. The effort of the administration was in the spirit of taking government to the doorsteps of the beneficiaries and deliver various public services to them.
