Unrest in VKV Port Mout after suicide by Class XI student

Suicide committed by a class XI student of Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, Port Mout following alleged mistreatment by the Principal and a teacher of the institution has triggered major unrest in the region. Students and parents staged a protest in front of the school on Thursday demanding termination of the teachers. The protest found support from different PRI members in South Andaman.
According to sources, the school management initially refuted the allegations, but following the intervention of the Child Rights Commission, the management decided to place the Principal and teacher under suspension till completion of the inquiry. As per latest report, students have submitted a written complaint to the Commission and the matter is being investigated.
