UTCPCR officials visit Havelock Isle

The A & N Union Territory Commission for Protection of Child Rights officiating chairperson, Smti Kiran Tigga and member, Smt. R. Geetha Raj conducted a visit to Havelock Island recently. A stakeholders meet was organized on  May 8  at 4.00 pm in the Conference Hall of Dolphin guest house under the chairmanship of  Smti Kiran Tigga.
Smt. R. Geetha Raj, member welcomed the gathering while the officiating chairperson Smt. Kiran Tigga interacted with the gathering. The main aim of the meet was to make aware of  POCSO Act, JJ Act child marriage and other issues related to children and also de-addiction of alcoholism in the meeting.
While discussing on the meeting Dr. P.K. Palit, Chief Medical Officer, PHC Havelock informed that the iron tablet has not issued to the children of Havelock Island for the last three months and necessary steps have been taken for the same. It was also informed by the PRI members that child marriage case was also occurred in Havelock Island. The Commission also suggested the stakeholders to implement Child Friendly Police Station and awareness camp for adolescent girls to jointly organize by Director (Social Welfare), Police and Medical Officials.   The Commission also visited Anganwadi Center Krishna Nagar 61/2 Havelock, South Andaman.
