Veer Savarkar’s great sacrifice remembered on his 52nd death anniversary

Rich tributes were paid to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, fondly known Veer Savarkar, on his 52nd death anniversary on Monday. To pay homage to Veer Savarkar, the Veer Savarkar Vichar Manch organised a function at Veer Savarkar Park near National Memorial Cellular Jail, which was attended by around 400 members from Maharashtra and 30 from Rewari, Haryana. The Chairperson, Municipal Council, Mr IP Singh, also paid homage to the freedom fighter on the occasion. A ‘Hawan’ was also conducted on the occasion to pay respect to freedom fighters. In the evening, earthen lamps were lighted in the Veer Savarkar Park to pay obeisance to the Freedom Fighters
Speakers on the occasion recalled the sacrifices made by Veer Savarkar and other Freedom Fighters for the cause of the Motherland. The supreme sacrifice made by the Freedom Fighters have made these Islands a place of pilgrimage and the National Memorial Cellular Jail is the mute witness of the gory sufferings meted to our Freedom Fighters, the said.
In his address, Mr Shrinivas Sharma Shastri,  state president, Veer Savarkar Vichar Manch (Riwari), Haryana informed that Veer Savarkar Vichar Manch was founded on 28th May 1970. “The Manch organises such functions across the country to pay tributes to freedom fighters . Veer Savarkar will always be remembered for his indomitable spirit and invaluable contribution to India. His undying love for India made him fight injustice against our Motherland and inspired others to join the freedom struggle,” he said.
