Vice Chief of Naval Staff to visit ANC

Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, AVSM, VSM, Vice Chief of Naval Staff, will be on a four- day visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands from April 4. The VCNC will be briefed on operational and infrastructure aspects of the Command. He is also scheduled to interact with the Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (Retd), Lieutenant Governor, Andaman & Nicobar at Raj Niwas and also visit the Naval Bases at Campbell Bay and Shibpur.
The Admiral was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1981. A specialist in Missiles & Gunnery, the Flag Officer has had extensive operational tenures onboard frontline warships of the Indian Navy. He assumed charge as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff on  October 30, 2017. His first Command assignment was overseas on deputation to the Mauritian Coast Guard where he commanded two patrol vessels over a period of two and a half years. Other seagoing Command tenures include six seagoing platforms, the guided missile corvette Kulish (Commissioning), guided missile frigate Talwar, guided missile destroyers Mumbai and Mysore. The officer has done the Naval Higher Command Course and is also an alumni of the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA (Class of 2004). His important shore/ staff assignments include Director Maritime Warfare Centre, Visakhapatnam, Commanding Officer of INS Dronacharya, Kochi and Chief Staff Officer (Operations) of the Western Naval Command, Mumbai.
