Workshop on yoga therapy held at TGCE

Workshop on Yoga therapy on lifestyle disorders was  jointly organized by AYUSH, wing of the Directorate of Health Services and the A&N State AYUSH Society in the auditorium of  Tagore Government College of Education here as part of celebration of  the 3rd International Day of Yoga. Around 46 doctors/yoga personnel from the Health Department, ANIIMS and Central Councils of Research in Ayurveda and Homeopathy participated in the workshop.
Inaugurating the workshop, Dr (Mrs) Shipra Paul, Director of Health Services, urged participants to mobilize the general public to adopt the yoga practice in their daily lifestyle.
Dr. Subramanya Pailoor, Associate Prof. and Dr. Raghvendra Samy, Asst. Prof. from S-VYASA University, Bengaluru (a centre of excellence for yoga education and research on yoga in the country), conducted the scientific sessions on various topics i.e. ‘Yoga: Its basis and application for non- communicable diseases’, ‘Yoga: As an evidence based personalized medicine’,’ Cyclic Meditation; principles, practice & research evidence’, ‘Yoga Therapy for cancer care, pain management’. The session was followed by practice of common yoga protocol framed by Ministry of AYUSH, GoI for IDY. The participants practiced all the prescribed Asanas and Pranyamas under the guidance of Yoga personnel under AYUSH.
