Youth convention on New India Mission by NSS-JNRM

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-1 of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya organized a Youth Convention on ‘New India Mission’ at JNRM on the 31st of last month. Students from DBRAIT, ANCOL, ANIIMS and JNRM participated and spoke on the topic Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, Our Role in making a New India, Development of our Islands- My Vision and Drug addiction a Menace. The chief guest Ms. Sheela Singh, Ex-Chairperson of PBMC said this convergence of students for ‘New India Mission’ will be a welcome start to reach the message to people of these islands, particularly the youth so that a new India emerges. She said that our islands can be a model of the new India which our Prime Minister has visualised to be accomplished by the year 2022. Dr. B. GangaIah, Head Natural Resource Management Division of CIARI Port Blair spoke on the Roadmap of new India. Dr. N. Francis Xavier, Principal JNRM spoke on the role of students and NSS Volunteers in the Mission. In the speech competition Ms. Sherin from ANIIMS, Ms. Shivani from ANCOL, and Ms. Mahua Mistry from JNRM were won prizes as best speakers on the topic- Development of our Islands-My Vision, Our Role in Making New India and Swachch Bharat Abhiyan–Our Role respectively. Emant Jhunjunwala from ANIIMS won a prize for his speech on Drug addiction-a Menace. Dr. Kandimuthu highlighted the importance of this convention as a part of NSS activity. NSS Volunteer Ms. Gracy Tripathi moderated the event and proposed the vote of thanks. Representatives of all the colleges together took a pledge for Making a New India.
