Mother arrested for allegedly killing minor son

The police today arrested  Bimala Roy of Raigunj for allegedly killing her minor son Debu whose body was found from a bush on August 18. Police suspect that the kid, a student of class II was killed as he had witnessed some illicit activities of her mother.
Notably, Debu, the deceased minor went missing from August 17 afternoon. He lived with her mother Bimala as his father Badal Roy had to live in Siliguri to earn  livelihood.
Extensive searches for the minor boy by locals primarily and then by police yielded no result in first 24 hours. However, half-naked body of Debu Roy was found from a bush approximately 1.5 km away from his house. An half-eaten apple and a Rs 10 note were found near the body.
Initially police suspected that the minor was killed as a part of practising black-magic. However, a further probe revealed the alleged involvement of the minor boy’s mother in the killing.
“We primarily believe that the minor boy was killed as he had accidentally witnessed some fishy activities of his mother. Bimala Roy was arrested and produced in court. We want to take her in custody for further interrogation,” a senior police official of Karnojora police outpost under Raiganj police station said.
Meanwhile, the residents of Paschim Bogram village blocked state highway -10 alleging that although the dead minor’s mother was arrested, the main culprit was still to be identified and arrested. The mob demanded immediate police action for arresting the key-culprit.
Deputy superintendent of police (headquarter) Prasad Pradhan had to rush to the spot to disperse the crowd. The blockade was withdrawn after nearly an hour after police assured to crack the case immediately
