‘Stand Up India award for Excellence in Public Service’ was truly awarded by the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi to the District Administration of  the North and Middle Andaman region. Led by the Deputy Commissioner of the district, Mr Arava Gopi Krishna, the local administration here has been following credible media reports and ensuring remedial measures. Acting on yet another report published by this daily, the local administration has ensured benefits of LPG subsidy reache targeted beneficiaries.
According to reports, the Consumer Cooperative Stores Ltd. acted promptly after drawing flak for tardy disbursal of LPG subsidy owing to some glitches in the software system. Necessary steps were initiated after which beneficiaries in the Middle Andaman region are now breathing a sigh of  relief as LPG subsidy is now being disbursed to consumers as per the prescribed norms.
The Echo of India, in its edition on the March 10 this year, reported how consumers in the Middle Andaman region were having a harrowing time over inordinate delay in disbursal of direct benefit or cash transfer in bank accounts as subsidy for domestic gas cylinder (LPG). Consumers then alleged serious mismanagement in the functioning of the Consumer Cooperative Stores Ltd. The Branch Manager of CCS Ltd, Mr Sreekumar, however, then assured that officials were working round the clock to fix the faults at the earliest in the interest of the consumers.
