Panguni Uthiram celebrated

Hundreds of devotees with numerous needles and spikes pierced through their bodies as mark of penance converged at Mariamman Temple here on Friday on the occasion of Panguni Uthiram. The devotees gathered in huge numbers at the Temple to dedicate themselves to Lord Murugan, who is believed to be the God of War and Victory.
The religious procession was participated by hundreds of devotees and passed through different parts here before congregating at the Mariamman  Temple to participate in the Fire Walk rituals. Annadanam was served to devotees and general public in the afternoon. Adequate arrangements were made by Police and Fire Services personnel to prevent any untoward incident.
