The Panchayat Samity member from Sabari, Smt Seropina Barla was elected as the new Pramukh of Panchayat Samity, Rangat on Wednesday. The election was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Smt Kriti Garg, while the Assistant Commissioner of Rangat, Executive Officer of Panchayat Samity were  present on the occasion. Of the total 14 members of the Samity, 13 polled in favour of Smt Seropina Barla.
In November this year, Panchayat Samity member of Sabari, Middle Andaman, Smt Seropina Barla, moved a No Confidence Motion against the former Pramukh, Panchayat Samity of Rangat, Smt Marjulu Tirkey on allegations of non-cooperation and failure to ensure coordination among members. Subsequently, the Up-Pramukh of Panchayat Samity, Rangat, Mr Keshab Kabiraj, convened a special meeting during which the No-Confidence Motion was successfully passed. Facing disqualification after a Motion passed against her, the former Pramukh, Panchayat Samity of Rangat, Smt Marjulu Tirkey had come out strongly in her defence  levelling counter-allegations against the Up-Pramukh of Panchayat Samity, Rangat, Mr Keshab Kabiraj, which were refuted by the latter.
