In prompt reaction to the report published in The Echo of India recently, the Pradhan of  Gram Panchayat, Sabari opened the toilet facilities in the old Panchayat building. According to reports, the Pradhan ordered immediate renovation of the toilet facilities in the deserted Panchayat building and has directed the staff to ensure its proper maintenance. Villagers of the area have appreciated the efforts of the Panchayat authorities.
The Echo of India, in its edition on March 6 this year, reported about brazen misuse of taxpayers’ money as the Panchayat building of Sabari with a public toilet facility was left abandoned for the past five years. While the Panchayat office presently functions from a new RCC building in the Sabari village, the concrete structure constructed earlier had become home to the wild and other anti-social elements. Besides the office building for Sabari Panchayat, the old structure also has a public toilet and some other facilities built from government funds. But for unknown reasons, the Panchayat shifted its office to another building in Sabari village, while the original building at Sabari Junction was left abandoned.
