Work begins for construction of Anganwadi Centre

For the benefit of villagers in Middle Andaman, work has commenced for construction of an Anganwadi Centre at Bakultala here recently. The Pradhan, Urmilapur Gram Panchayat, Mr Biswajit Mondal will execute the project sanctioned under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
According to reports, the Anganwadi Centre will be equipped for all basic facilities include toilets. The Centre will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 6.57 lakh and instructions have been issued to the building agency to complete the project within the set deadline.  Once completed, the Centre will fulfil one of the long pending demands of the villagers. The centre will run under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, which aims at improving the nutritional and health status of children in the age group of 0-6 years and lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the child.
