New court comes up at Rongli

A new court of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate has come up at  Rongli, located in close proximity of Bhutan and China and known for its historical importance too. The court was inaugurated on Monday at a ceremony held in the sub-division, attended by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court Mr Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri, Sikkim High Court judges  Mrs Justice, Meenakshi Madan Rai and Mr Justice, Bhaskar Raj Pradhan, and Law minister R.B Subba.
Chamling talked about the transformation of the town and the developments that had taken place. He hoped that with the setting up of the court, justice would be delivered efficiently and right at their doorsteps. He urged the people to use their democratic rights by approaching the court if and when necessary. “We should all abide by the law and be responsible citizens and instill a sense of ownership and belonging,” he said.
Mr Justice Agnihotri in his address talked about the strategic importance of Rongli. He said that with the opening of the new court, it will be convenient for the common people to now seek justice and judicial help. He stressed on the importance of law and said that justice should be prompt and fair and thanked the  Chief Minister for extending all help necessary in the completion of the said project.
