ASDTF wins battle for its members as NHPC meets many of its demands

For the welfare of the contractual drivers of NHPC. All Sikkim Democratic Transport/Drivers Front (ASDTF) headed by G.M. Gurung today called on General Manager of National Hydropower Corporation (NHPC) Sahadev Khatua at his office.  After a  2-hour meeting, the NHPC management had conceded to quite a few of the demands of the transport association,  prominent among them include: increasing  food allowances of drivers during outstation tour, granting leave on public holidays to one third of drivers, salary for the additional drivers for ambulances, increase in the period of agreement from 4 years to 5 years, full salary to drivers in case of an accident, induction of vehicles through drivers' associations, reduction of working hours after the renewal of the vehicle, to name a few..  In the meeting G.M. Gurung appealed to the management to treat local employees, drivers with respect. The ASDTF representatives emphasised during the meeting that workers should get justice and they should get medical facilities immediately.  The meeting was also attended by NHPC Senior Manager Sanjeev Kumar, HR Head Pravesh Kumar and on the other hand Sandeep Chettri, Tinku Adhikari, Tenzing Sherpa,  among others from ASDTF.
