A historic step of care towards society has been accomplished by Indian Oil Corporation  in Sikkim. Executive Director  West Bengal State Office, Kolkata, Dipankar Ray has inaugurated a new community hall at Singlebong Village, West Pendam, East Sikkim.
Singlebong village is remotely situated inside the West Pendam Panchayat area with 350-odd households, with a total population of around 2500; cut-off from proper motorable roads and markets. Due to its geographical terrain and position, IOC felt that any initiative under community social responsibility scheme would be a blessing and care for the villagers of Singlebong. With a vision of overall development of the village, Panchayat President Sarpanch West Pendam GPU Pratap Singh Rai came up with the proposal for the need of a community hall in the village.
IOC took up the proposal, made a need assessment and successfully completed the project of construction of the community hall in Singlebong village. The inaugural function was followed by cultural dances and songs by the students of Government Junior High School, Singlebong.
