Singtam school holds awareness programme on ‘technology addiction’

SAATHI (Sikkim against Addiction towards Healthy India) team and class XII science stream of Government Senior Secondary School Singtam organized on Sunday an awareness programme on "Technology addiction" and an inter-school science quiz competition cum exhibition and the inauguration of the newly installed  CCTV system.
The objective to organize this programme was to bring awareness that teen alcoholism and drug abuse were not the only major problem now-a-days but the problem of technology addiction had been spreading vigorously among today’s generation.
The science quiz competition was the main attraction. Sumin Lingzey School bagged the first prize followed by Lower Sumin Secondary School and Singtam Sr. Sec. School. At the science exhibition where innovative models like thermo wind plant, vacuum cleaner, hydrated car, various electronic models, model on organic farming, drain digger and water harvester were exhibited. The main aim of organizing this exhibition was to inculcate scientific temperament and to harness science and technology for sustainable development. Ten newly installed CCTVs were also inaugurated.
