Anju Bobby George reaches Bagdogra to run marathon in Darjeeling

International athlete Anju Bobby George was received by police officers at Bagdogra airport on Thursday.
Anju will participate in the half-marathon on Friday at Darjeeling. The marathon is being organized by GTA to improve police-public relations. She rested a while speaking to media persons a private motel in Baggdogra and then proceeded towards Darjeeling. Anju said, “I am here in Darjeeling to run for the good cause. I am also here to aware people for safe drive, stop human trafficking and drug addiction and several other causes.”
Darjeeling police will run 21 kilometer race along with Anju to commemorate 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Anju is also the chief guest of the event.
Forty years old international athlete Anju who hails from Kerala made India proud when she made history by winning bronze medal in Long Jump at the 2003 World Championship in Athletics in Paris. She became the first Indian athlete ever to win a medal in a World Championship in Athletics jumping 6.70m.
