Binay Tamang threatens ‘massive’ rally in Delhi

Gorkha Janmukti Morcha president and chairman of Gorkhland Territorial Administration Buinay Tamang has threatened to organize a “massive” rally in Delhi after the pujas to protest against he not being allowed to address a meeting in the national capital on the foundation day of GJM.
Tamang who landed Bagdogra airport on Monday on his return from Delhi was welcomed by thousands of his party supporters shouting slogans against the BJP government and Darjeeling M. P. S. S. Ahluwalia. According to Tamang a letter reached in the hands of Morcha leaders from Hauz Khas police station on Saturday. the evening before the meeting, about permission being denied for the event due to law and order problems.
Talking to newspersons, Tamang said: “They (BJP leaders) used to say that there is no democracy in Bengal but I will say that democracy has been totally killed in New Delhi. I was not allowed to address the meeting and the event was cancelled after Union Home ministry declined the permission in the last moment. Even the owner of the NCUI Auditorium at Kranti Marg refused to provide the place for the function.” Morcha had planned a two-hour political programme followed by a cultural event from 1 p.m. onwards but Tamang alleged that their supporters were asked to vacate the hall immediately.
“I am ready to go even Tihar Jail but will organise rally in Delhi, ‘Mein iska muh tod jawab dunga,’ I am not coward. The government feared being exposed about the betrayal of hill people. Black flag was shown to me by some people but I don’t care about them, “said Tamang.
