After Trinamool Congress now BJP accuses Left Front led Siliguri municipal corporation (SMC) of indulging in corruption and failure in rendering services to citizens.
Newly appointed Siliguri BJP president Abhijit Roy Chowdhury demanded a probe by CBI into the alleged corruption of Pradhan Mantri Awaj Yojana (PMAY) implemented in SMC areas.
“Mayor Asok Bhattacharya has admitted that 25 per cent of the allotted fund has already been distributed among beneficiaries. But some people without being in the list received the fund too. Those names were suggested by the leaders of Trinamool Congress, Congress and CPM,” Roy Chowdhury said.
“The scheme has the purpose of ensuring housing for all leaving at the remote areas. Those who cannot afford a concrete house should be brought under the scheme. But the fund has been misappropriated in Siliguri. Only a probe by CBI can unmask the corrupt leaders,” he added.
Claiming that CPM and Congress cannot beat Trinamool the BJP president said that BJP would throw away the state’s ruling party with its own strength.
Roy Chowdhury inducted 32 Trinamool workers from ward no. 32 to BJP in a programme on Sunday night.
He threatened to resort to larger stir against Trinamool in coming days. (EOIC)
