Indian National Congress, Naxalari Block Congress Committee members on Tuesday demonstrated in front of Bagdogra police station demanding promotion of sub inspector Nitesh Lama to the post of Officer-in-charge.
The protesters threatened for aggressive movement if their demand is not fulfilled on immediate basis.
Hundreds of congress members under the leadership of committee president Amitava Sarkar and Upper Bagdogra Gram Panchayat Pradhan Kanchan Kushwa also submitted memorandum to the Police Commissioner, Siliguri through Bagdogra OC.
Sarkar said, “We are submitting a memorandum describing that the police of Darjeeling district and Siliguri have become the slaves of the ruling party. One such example of the situation is of Nitesh Lama, second officer of Bagdogra police station whose promotion was denied as he was supportive to opposition party and act as a worthy police officer.”
