5 Jul 2018

A small fire at Siliguri hospital caused panic among patients, their relatives, nurses and doctors today morning. Although no major damage was reported, some important papers were burnt, according to  sources in the hospital.
Amitabha Mandal, superintendent of the hospital said that fire was first noticed at the office of the nursing-staff working at the male-surgical ward of the hospital. Soon fire brigade was informed.
Meanwhile, staff members of the hospital used fire-extinguishers available at the hospital premises to douse the flames. “Before the fire could take a devastating form, fire-brigade reached the hospital. However, the fire had already been extinguished by our employees,”  Mandal said.
He also said that although some furniture of the hospital was partially damaged, major loss was averted. (EOIC)
