Gautam Deb marches in peace rally

With a motive to withdraw ongoing strike in hills the Trinamool Congress is trying hard by organising peace rallies in various regions but the effect is partial.
After massive rally in Mirik on Tuesday Trinamool Congress’s top leaders including Tourism Minister Gautam Deb participated in a rally on Wednesday at Garidhura under Kurseong block.
Shops were opened during the rally, relief materials were distributed among the local people but as soon as the minister left for Siliguri all the shops were shut down again.
Deb with the message of restoring peace in the hills marched rally along with Hill Trinamool president Rajen Mukhia, Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Chhetri, Pradeep Pradhan and around hundred supporters at Garidhura Bazar. A huge police force was deployed in the area during the rally.
Deb said that the rally was organised in the hope that the unrest in the hills would end as soon as possible.
He said, “The festivals of Durga Puja, Diwali and Bhai Tika are just around the corner. That is why we want the peace to be restored in the region at the earliest.”
According to Rajen Mukhia several members from Morcha joined Trinamool Congress after the rally.
By evening when the rally ended and Trinamool Congress leaders and supporters left the entire area turned deserted. The shopkeepers downed shutters and went away.
