Grand programme for Bhanu Bhakta birthday in Siliguri

The Indra Bahadur Rai memorial award will be given to an upcoming Nepali poet on July13on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Nepali poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya at Bagdogra.
The Bhanu Jayanti Samoraha Samiti, Bagdogra, has decided to present the prestigious award in the name of Indra Bahadur Rai who was an eminent writer and literacy critic from Darjeeling.
A cash prize will be given to the award winner and the name will be announced on the day of the event.
The 104th birth anniversary of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya will observed in a grand manner for the first time in Bagdogra where around 6,000 people including school children are expected to take part in a procession.
Binny Sharma, president of the organizing committee, informed at a Press conference held at Siliguri Jurnalist Club on Tuesday that Nepali poet’s birth day will be observed in a festive spirit. A procession carrying a tableau on Bhanu Bhakta would be organized. People in traditional attires will march from Danra Gaon to Bihar More, Bagdogra.
In the afternoon a cultural programme will be held at Gandhi Memorial High School premise where 10 students from various schools who have obtained highest marks in the recent Madhyamik examination will be awarded. They would be given Rs 10,000 each year for their education till they complete graduation. 
Eminent personalities from the Nepali community who have contributed to the society will also be felicitated in the same event.   
Sharma also stated that a musical event will be held in the evening where eminent Nepali singer Kunti Moktan along with others will perform in the stage.
Tourism Minister Gautam Deb, GTA Chairman Binay Tamang along with other dignitaries will be the guests of honour, he added.
