NHPC Ltd undertakes special cleanliness drive at Udaya Nagar village

National Hydraulic Power Corporation (NHPC) regional office, Siliguri took a special cleanliness drive at Udaya Nagarvillage on May 28 as part of Swacch Bharat Pakhwada. The cleanliness drive started with a march from NHPC Limited Vidyut Nagar to Kamranguri village with banners, posters and slogans creating awareness amongst the people towards cleanliness and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The march was led by K.K. Goswami, chief (HR), Rajappan K., chief engineer (civil) and Priya Ranjan, Sr. Manager (HR), NHPC Limited along with senior officers and employees of Regional Office, Siliguri.
Addressing the gathering, Priya Ranjan urged the local inhabitants to keep their village clean and green and be part of the special drive initiated by the Government to make the country clean and Green by 2019. He advised the shopkeepers to completely ban the use of plastic bags as plastic is not bio degradable and causes pollution to the environment. He specifically appealed to the children, being the future of the country, to lead the Clean India Campaign in their society, community, schools and colleges to initiate cleanliness in the surrounding areas. Goswami also urged the people to keep their surroundings clean and hygienic. The senior officers and employees of NHPC later cleaned the streets within the village and thanked the people for their cooperation and support. (EOIC)
