NHPC Siliguri regional office celebrates 69th R-Day

Regional office of NHPC Limited, at Siliguri, celebrated India’s 69th Republic Day (R-Day) with great fervour and enthusiasm on January 26. The celebration began with the unfurling of National Flag and singing of National Anthem at NHPC regional office, Siliguri. Speaking on the occasion, B.M. Gupta, chief (finance), regional office, Siliguri extended his greetings to the entire NHPC family and said that Republic Day brings a feeling of great pride and patriotism amongst all citizens. He paid special tribute to the sacrifice of freedom fighters and soldiers. He further highlighted the role being played by NHPC in the development of hydropower in India and further encouraged employees to work harder and contribute to the overall growth of the company.
He also said that NHPC has grown into a major hydropower utility since its inception in 1975. He encouraged all employees to come together to complete the Govt. of India initiative of Power for All.During his speech he also mentioned about the various activities conducted by the region under Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) and sustainable development. He also lay emphasize on environment conservation and renewable energy etc. for sustainable growth of the power sector.

In his speech, he also mentioned that requisite government approvals are being expedited for commencing the construction works at Teesta-IV Projectat North Sikkim. Finally he thanked the state and local authorities as well as local public for their support and cooperation.
As per the directives of MoP, awareness was also created amongst the people present on the above occasion to exhibit due respect to our National Flag. As per the Flag Code of India 2002 plastic Flags which are not biodegradable, are not to be used. Similarly paper flags are not to be discarded or thrown on the ground after the event. Such flags are to be disposed in private, consistent with the dignity of the flag. (EOIC)
