Three dead, more than 20 injured in road accident

Two persons died and more than 20 injured after a private bus and lorry met head-in collision on Siliguri-Islampur national highway 31 near Ramgunj today morning.
North Dinajpur SP Shyam Singh said, “The accident took place around 5 am where two passengers died and injured are admitted at the Islampur hospital while the critical are forwarded to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).”
Police sources informed that a lady passenger and the driver of the bus died on the spot. The lady has been identified as Nitya Barman while the name of the driver is yet to be confirmed.
The bus was coming towards Siliguri from Balurghat rammed with lorry.
Sources also informed that at least seven passengers are in critical state and forwarded to NBMCH, Siliguri. Police have seized the truck and bus and arrested the truck driver and have started the probe. A su-moto case has been registered.
According to the latest report three people have died so far and the police had sent seven critically injured passengers to NBMCH.
