TMC youth leader’s sister assaulted: factional feud blamed

Factional feud in Trinamool Congress came to the fore in Jalpaiguri when the sister of a youth Trinamool Congress leader Raju Sahani was assaulted allegedly by a newly elected panchayat member of the party Mahesh Raotia  on Sunday night in Jalpaiguri.
In his written complaint to inspector-in-charge of Kotowali police station the lady Manju Sahani alleged that some goons led by Raotia gathered in front of their house. “They were passing filthy remarks about my brother and us. When I protested, they turned hostile and started roughing me up,” Manju said.
She further alleged that Raotia attempted to ransack Sahani’s house and even tried to set the quarter on fire.
Manju Sahani lodged written complaint against seven persons including Raotia with Kotowali police station.
Inspector-in-charge of Kotowali police station in Jalpaiguri said that a probe was initiated. However, none was arrested so far. Sources informed that excitement was prevailing at the locality. (EOIC)
